Our Review

Given that it started life as one of London's great station hotels, the aptly named landmark is built on an imperial scale. The atrium (complete with palm trees and glass roof) is extraordinary and the rooms are more spacious than in many other London properties, but this grand atmosphere is matched by friendly, courteous service.

One of London’s great old railway hotels, the Landmark is housed in a Grade II-listed red brick building with an ornate Victorian Gothic façade and a striking clock tower. The medium sized lobby is richly appointed in marble, while the reception area features pale wood panelling. Wide marble stairs lead to the hotel’s centrepiece, the stunning 8-storey glass atrium, with wicker furniture and huge palm trees lending it an Asian flavour. On the mezzanine gallery overlooking it, there are shops and a gazebo.
The 299 spacious guestrooms are amongst the largest in London. Boasting lots of natural light, they are decorated beige and brown tones, complemented by rich, neutral fabrics. All are clean and well maintained, as are the en suite marble bathrooms with separate baths and showers.
The hotel offers a variety of dining options. Situated at the heart of the atrium, the Winter Garden Restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, traditional afternoon tea and dinner, with a menu that combines classical ideas with more modern flavours, all cooked in a simple manner to create a dazzling array of dishes. Opened in late 2005, the Mirror Bar is the perfect venue for pre-dinner cocktails or a late night drink, designed in a style reminiscent of the hotel’s Victorian heritage and adorned with a selection of decorative mirrors. The Cellars is a welcoming and informal Bar, which retains many of its original features. Here guests can choose from a range of fine wines to accompany hearty English lunches and evening meals, or simply pick from a wide selection of beers, cocktails and cigars.
